Platters to Go - Tips & Facts
In general, allow 30 grams of cheese per person, but no more than a total of 120 grams per person.
Remove cheese from the refrigerator at least 30 minutes before serving to allow them to come to room temperature.
Arrange them on the serving plate with accompaniments alongside but not touching the cheese.
It’s best to use a larger plate that gives guests plenty of room to manoeuvre when cutting the cheese.
Serve one knife for each cheese to avoid mixing flavours and some guests may prefer some types of cheese and not others.
To prompt guests as to how to cut the cheese, cut a ‘starting slice’ as an example
If transporting cheese to enjoy away from home, make sure you keep it cold with ice blocks and bring it to room temperature one hour before serving.
Classic cheese accompaniments:
Pear
Green apple
Grapes
Quince, fig, pear or plum pastes
Scented or truffle honey
Nuts (almonds, brazil nuts, cashew nuts, walnuts)
